$100,000 Gift Celebrates Barb Roth’s 90th Birthday

Nov. 5, 2024 - Sandusky, OH — Sandusky Central Catholic School (SCCS) is thrilled to announce a generous $100,000 gift from the Tom and Barb Roth family, in celebration of Barb Roth’s 90th birthday on November 6. This transformative donation, dedicated to enhancing SCCS’s science program, honors Tom and Barb’s lifelong love for the school and the pivotal role it has played in the Roth family’s lives.

This gift will fund improvements to the science building, as well as state-of-the-art technology that will open new doors for students’ scientific exploration. The donation holds special meaning for the Roth family, as they reflect on how much has changed in education since Barb’s time as a student, when women were often encouraged to pursue home economics classes over science. With this gift, the Roth family’s vision is to inspire all students, regardless of gender, to fall in love with science during their high school years.

“This donation is made in special recognition of our mom’s 90th birthday, her love for SCCS, and the role the school has played in all of our lives,” said Dr. Kevin Roth, representing the family of eight kids (who all attended SCCS) Kevin, Lori, Amy, Ty, J, Aaron, Troy, and Yon . “Our hope is that this gift from the Tom and Barb Roth family helps ensure that students—both young men and women—have the resources to dive into science, embrace discovery, and pursue their passions.”

The Sandusky Central Catholic School community expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the Roth family for their generosity and for continuing to invest in the future of SCCS students. This incredible donation will empower a new generation of scientists, thinkers, and innovators for many years to come.
